Disappointments and stress

These last weeks since I last posted have been busy and extremely stressful. The last payment for property taxes were due on 7/30/10 so we had to come up with $ 615.00 which we managed to do. Now we are working with the city to have to amount automatically withdrawn by them from a special bank account on specific dates. That won't start until next January. The case that I am most with has had a few new problems. One night I was asked not to come because they were having problems with the little ones trach and wanted the case manager there instead. Well I said that was fine. She has been with this case since the child was 6 months old and I have only been with them for a couple months. So that weeks schedule got shifted around. Then the 24 th of July the clients mom brought home twin girls. More things to be aware of and do. But I must say I love it. This is my stress.

However things are not going well with my first case. The parents all of a sudden have taken me off the schedule. We have spent this month playing e-mail and phone tag. I have just about come to the end of my rope. I don't like vague answers to my questions. I appreciate direct answers. The whole situation has been handled so badly that I don't know if I could go back and work there. Which tears my heart because I love and adore both those kids and thought I'd be taking care of them forever but I guess not. So that was my major dissappointment .

My great nephews continue to provide entertainment. Andre is growing and we are starting him on rice cereal. Which according to mom isn't going too well. And we are looking at high chairs. The next move is to get one we can all operate.

Well thats all for this time.

Car repair and menopause

There are two things that should never go together is any crisis like having your car repaired after hitting a deer and menopause. It is like asking for a category 6 hurricane inside of you. Its not a pretty site. But that God I have two very understanding sisters who keep me in my place and don't let me get too out of hand.

On the good side I finally got my car back and they did a wonderful job foxing the front end damage. Its looks show room new. They even cleaned the inside of my car. Shampoo'd the carpeting and seats. I was stunned!!! Although looking at the final bill I saw an entry for a $3.00 charge for biohazard waste disposal. I wonder if that was all the dirt and crap the removed when they cleaned the inside of my car. I don't know. But its great to have my wheels back. It definitely helped my mood. However with the summer heat my hotflashes have increased.

Well now its time to get ready to take care of my client tonight. And hopefully it will go well.

What every woman should do

Today I go to have a mammogram done. With a history of cancer in my family and 3 cancer scares myself I feel it must be done. Just as having a pap smear done even after you have a hystectomy. Cancer can develop just about anywhere and the sooner we detect it the better the survival chance. Even though the Medical Association says to have your first mammogram at a certain age its still an individual test. If you have a family history of cancer make sure you are tested for it and if your doctor tells you its not time to have that test done insist. Remember its your life.

Picture time

At the end of April we took my sister Robin and her two grandsons Aydin (age 5) and Andre (age 4 months ) and had pictures taken at Walmart. These are only a few sample and yes the photographer told Aydin to stand and look that way. It was fun to pick out the sittings we wanted and the size.

Since the photos were taken Andre of course has grown. He now wears cloths for 12 months olds and he is only 6 months old. Aydin this fall when school starts will be in the exceptinal program for high IQ kids. So we will see how he does. He certainly has the energy to with the brains.
This last month has been very busy with my new case. So I haven't been with the old case for over a month and now I am not sure whether I will be back with it or not.
Also this last month I hit a deer on my way to work and it caused alot of front end damage and now I wait as it is in the shop being fixed. Thank God they gave me a loaner to drive that way I don't miss any work.
This week Aydin turns 6 and today we will be getting things ready for the party. Time has flown sooooo fast.

April Showers bring May problems

Remember the Old saying "April Showers bring May Flowers" well in my families case it has brought more problems. My sister Cheryl and I have been going to the gym and I have started again with Weight Watchers because both of us have gained alot of weight this last winter. Unfortunately its has aggravated Cheryl's knee problem and now she needs to go to the Orthopedic Surgeon to have it checked out. Unfortunately she has no insurance and does not qualify for either Medicaid or Medicare. So like so many Americans we try to work out a payment schedule and pray alot.

I am also taking on another medical case. I am a private duty independent nurse and work nights taking care of right now 2 children with a rare genetic problem. And this next week I am adding another case to my busy schedule. I really enjoy this kind of nursing. The only drawback is that my activity level is down and my weight is up. So I struggle to eat right and increase my activity. Unfortunately my exercise partner (Cheryl) is unable to go with me until she sees the doctor. So I must go alone. We will see this week is my efforts have amounted to something.

First Time for Everything

This is my first blog entry. I keep tabs on the family I work for blog and decided to start one of my own. My family is unique but my struggles as a nurse are more interesting. Keep tuned and see what I must face as a LPN in this Health Care Reform that the President and Congress seem to want to ram down our throats. Talk to you all later.
